The alloy has excellent corrosion resistance to most corrosive media in oxidation and reduction states.Excellent resistance to spot corrosion, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking.Alloys are suitable for use in a variety of chemical process industries containing oxidizing and reducing media.Higher molybdenum and chromium content make the alloy resistant to chloride ions, and tungsten further improves its corrosion resistance.Hastelloy C-276 is one of the few materials that is resistant to wet chlorine, hypochlorite, and chlorine dioxide solutions. The alloy is remarkably resistant to high concentrations of salt chloride solutions (e.g., ferric chloride and copper chloride).
